Day 55/365: Tree and Sky Reflection
No, the focus is not meant to be on the candle wicks but instead on the reflection of the trees and sky on the melted wax. I thought it was beautiful! I love playing around on the camera. It’s just too much fun. And it’s a good way to have you understand the way I view most things in life…a way that most people don’t usually look at things. I’m observant and I like unique views, angles, foci (being grammatically correct here lol), etc. I love looking at the world through the lens. I used the P setting for this one so I could tap on the middle of the camera screen and make sure it focused on the reflection part rather than the wicks. And that’s another thing I love about photography! You start by having one idea of a cool photo, and then it ends up having like a domino effect because you then start taking more and more photos of the same thing, but you now have hundreds of other creative ideas or angles in your head that would make the photo stand out even more. Day 53/365: Luna Moth
I have never seen one in person before!!! It just happened to be chillin’ on our dorm frame when I got home :D HAD to snap a photo of it. You see these things flying everywhere in the Lunesta commercial on TV right now. They’re pretty awesome. I did my research, and I think that this is a male luna moth. The female ones looked like they curve a little more where at that brown part on top of the wings. And it was only after showing this picture to my roommate (who is an entomology major) that she freaked out and let me know that she had been looking for one of those for forever! Remember her collection I’ve been taking photos of? It’s growing more and more and more, and it is absolutely beautiful. It’s full of bugs, beetles, moths, bees/yellowjackets, and butterflies! More photos of it will be coming soon ;)
I had to use flash for this photo too, because it was wayyyy too dark outside. It’s not bad at all for a quick snap before it flew off! View Larger

Day 41/365: Ladybug Nymph
Saw this outside before we left for Duluth today! I thought it was a beautiful small bug and ran to get my roommate. She got her container to collect it and everything - but then found out it is actually a nymph that will turn into a ladybug soon and not a bug she could collect… Oops! Guess you learn something new every day! Haha.
I used the Programmable mode for this one and used the point and shoot focus where I just tapped the area I wanted in focus (the nymph). View Larger

Day 35/365: Squirrel!
Another beautiful day, another opportunity to take great photos. I swear, nature is crazzzzy around our house! Soo many squirrels, birds, other animals, blooming trees and flowers. I feel SO lucky and blessed to live in this house. I have been trying to get a good photo of a squirrel for a while, but they always run away. So I’m super proud of this one :D View Larger

Day 32/365: Miniature
Who says you can’t find beauty in small things? This is a small part of a dandelion stuck on our dead Christmas tree in our back yard. Got a really cool shot though! And all I did was use the Intelligent Auto setting on the camera. I didn’t have to do any type of manual focus or anything - it did it all for me! Really easy to use. View Larger

Day 30/365: White flower
Got a chance to snap this right after the doctor on Tuesday. It’s a flower from a tree in our backyard. I swear, the things I notice in our backyard…it changes every single day, so it’s so wonderful when we see all this beautiful nature around us blooming and growing and chirping and skipping around. It’s really great! And to be able to capture it gives me such a sense of accomplishment. It was actually windy and hard to get this picture, but I’m proud of what I got.
It reminds me of white linen. Peace. Outside. Nature. Beauty. Happiness. View Larger

Day 24/365: Neighbor’s Flowers
Well first off, I tried SO hard to take a picture of this Robin in my driveway today, but it just kept hopping off on me and running away until finally it flew away hahaha so all the pictures are a little blurry. If anyone was watching, they probably thought I was ridiculously crazy.
So then, my eye caught this beautiful bush of flowers that my neighbors have, and I just couldn’t resist! Nature is my thing. Especially with photography. It has my heart. Always. These flowers are a beautiful description of Spring coming, and I love it :) I can’t wait to see all the rest of the beauty around me! View Larger
