View Larger Day 53/365: Luna Moth
I have never seen one in person before!!! It just happened to be chillin’ on our dorm frame when I got home :D HAD to snap a photo of it. You see these things flying everywhere in the Lunesta commercial on TV right now. They’re pretty awesome. I did my research, and I think that this is a male luna moth. The female ones looked like they curve a little more where at that brown part on top of the wings. And it was only after showing this picture to my roommate (who is an entomology major) that she freaked out and let me know that she had been looking for one of those for forever! Remember her collection I’ve been taking photos of? It’s growing more and more and more, and it is absolutely beautiful. It’s full of bugs, beetles, moths, bees/yellowjackets, and butterflies! I had to use flash for this photo too, because it was wayyyy too dark outside. It’s not bad at all for a quick snap before it flew off!
